Open MeetingsCelebrate Recovery

Open Meetings are unlike any other GA Meeting.

These meetings are where compulsive gamblers come together with their family and friends to celebrate a period of abstinence from gambling.  Most meeting venues will host an open meeting once or twice per year and compulsive gamblers that have achieved a year, or number of years abstinence from gambling since the last open meeting will recieve recognitions and a medallion showing the number of years of abstinence.

During these events the compulsive gambler will usually talk through their experience of the last year or years and explain the effect of gambling on their life and the benefits they have received through abstinence from gambling.

These are often emotional events and are an amazing experience for both the compulsive gambler and their family and friends.
